Physicall theatre and object opera
2021
Anna Luňáková
Jakub Štourač
Glück auf is an opera of objects, staged music poetry and sound puppetry, proceedings of archivation study a 3h performance of 6 reel-to-reel tape recorders, 1 overhead projector, 12km of tapes, 6 mechanical roosters and 1 shredding machine.
The name is derived from the saying "Glück auf!", a traditional greeting of German miners, which expresses the simple hope for the opening of the vein, successful mining and finally - a safe return from the underground back to the surface. "Glück auf!" thus sums up everything that the honest creator hopes for in his endless experiments. It is an opera of objects. Two characters, two operators, two souls depict both the journey into the depths of the earth by two miners, but also the discovery of a hidden, underground garden by two poets, inspired by Milton's Paradise Lost, or the relentless exploration of chemical and physical processes by two alchemists, which is based on the limits of understanding especially oneself in a world that is going through a severe muscle spasm.
