This monograph is based on my doctoral research and presents the poet Jiří Volf (1947–1993) within the context of Czech literature, reconstructing his life and work through a unique combination of archival materials, surviving manuscripts, and eyewitness accounts. My investigative journey traces his departure into exile in 1968, his involvement in alternative literary circles in Toulouse, the difficult circumstances of his life, and his untimely death. The volume includes an extensive selection of the author’s texts, translated from French and published in Czech for the very first time. The book offers not only a compelling portrait of the “Rimbaud of the East,” but also a reflection on the very process of writing about life and work on the border between fact and fiction, between history and memory.

Anna Luňáková's poetic debut Jen ztratím jméno contains two larger pieces. The book is a manifesto and a confession, it is both tender and provocative. It speaks, listens and answers...

André Gorz: Dopis pro D.
Translation
2021
The letter by André Gorz, a philosopher of Czech-Austrian origin, is not only a declaration of love but also a recapitulation of the author's political and ecological thinking. In it, Gorz looks at the ways in which philosophical thinking distanced him from what was truly essential: living together with the person he loved. Uneasy, fragile and honest. In his text, Gorz interrogates the relationship between philosophy and the love of partnership and also touches on the idea of love in general. In place of tragic unfulfillment, we read the life story of two people who managed to live together for almost sixty years without the source of their love being exhausted.
